The Grammy Award-winning, 12-piece rock and soul powerhouse Tedeschi Trucks Band (TTB) brings its electrifying live show to Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre for two special nights on Friday, August 1 (Garcia's birthday) and Saturday, August 2, 2025. Joined by up-and-coming rockers Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge, this memorable weekend will showcase TTB’s lauded musicianship and genre-defying repertoire in one of the world’s most breathtaking venues.
Watching them, it doesn’t hurt that the junior Allman and Betts share their dads’ genetic exteriors. Betts, in particular, has features that emulate his famous father. Better still, Devon and Duane’s voices have tone and timbre similar to Gregg and Dickey, and their guitar shredding and (for Devon) organ skills would make their papas and Uncle Duane proud. I’m still going to vote for Derek Trucks as the top of a very impressive heap in this generation of Allman Bros. spinoffs—but he actually played in the Allman Brothers, so maybe he doesn’t count. I suppose that bumps D & D up to the pinnacle.

My editor asks if I’d like to review a new song from a rising blues guitarist. Is that even a question? As a blues lover, the chance to hear an up-and-coming artist bend the strings and bring forth those sweet, soulful sounds is an immediate and resounding yes. Send it my way, I beg. My email chimes, and I’m greeted with a single track: a remake of the iconic Led Zeppelin tune, Going to California. My mind starts spinning. What will I find? I hit play and take a deep breath.
