Grateful Dead

Say "Guten Abend" to your Grateful Dead friends and family at our 4th annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies! This year's epic one-night event will feature a complete rare live studio performance of the Dead captured during their legendary European tour in 1972 with audio remastered from the original analog tapes.

For the third year in a row I had the honor to attend one of my favorite events all year.  There is nothing else in this world that can put a smile on my face quite like a familiar Grateful Dead tune can. This year at Dark Star Jubilee was just as beautiful as the last three. I couldn’t have picked a better way to spend my Memorial Day weekend. As I walked through the gates, and to the top of the ridge of the pine trees, I remembered what it was like to feel at home.

The seasons have turned. The sun is warm the sky is blue, and even the grass is getting green. This can only mean one thing. It's almost summer. What better way to get rid of that winter blues then to bring in the summer with one of the best festivals of the the season? In just over a week, for Memorial day weekend, Dark Star Orchestra gathers the best of the Midwest for a Jubilee.

Based on their unique approach of recreating, literally note for note, all instruments as well as the lush and complex vocal harmonies as heard on classic recordings of the 70’s, Dead On Live has quickly become recognized as one of the top acts to pay tribute to the music of the American treasure known as the Grateful Dead.

Dark Star Orchestra crashed into Eugene’s McDonald Theatre last Saturday night and poured their brilliant light into ashes of moments, shows and tours past.

They resurrected a spry Dead set from early ’87—April 7, Brendan Byrne Arena (NJ)—that  again moved a crowd of hopeful dreamers and warmed yearning hearts with smiles, smiles, smiles.

Grateful Web recently had a chance to speak with legendary bluegrass mandolinist, Jesse McReynolds. Jesse’s use of ‘crosspicking’, known as the ‘McReynolds style’ distinguished his picking from Bill Monroe and others. Jesse is a multiple Grammy award winner and in 1993 he was inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame.

Bob Weir and RatDog will join a slew of guest musicians at the HeadCount 10th Anniversary Benefit Concert at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY on June 4th. The event will also be the official Kickoff Party for Mountain Jam, a festival that begins the next day at Hunter Mountain in upstate New York and runs through the weekend.

The last of a three-night run at a mysterious little club called "Thelma" found the Grateful Dead restoring glory to the Sunset Strip for what was once just a fleeting moment, now preserved for eternity with this here Dave's Picks Volume 10. Hot off the release of the highly-acclaimed Live/Dead and setting the stage for Workingman's Dead , 12/12/69 stands to represent the crux of the band's
