The Garcia Project, the nation’s premier tribute act dedicated to the Jerry Garcia Band, will bring its faithful recreations of classic JGB shows to the historic Fox Theatre on May 15. Often called the “DSO of JGB,” The Garcia Project is the only nationally touring tribute that performs full, classic Jerry Garcia Band set lists from 1976 to 1995—capturing the spirit and vibe of Garcia’s beloved side project with stunning accuracy.

Each week, David Grisman’s Acoustic Disc spotlights one of their many landmark releases and offers fans a free MP3 track as the “Treat of the Week.” This time, they’re shining a light on Old & in the Way – Live at Sonoma State, recorded on November 4, 1973, in Cotati, California. Although Old & in the Way’s time together was brief, the band’s enduring influence on bluegrass and acoustic music is undeniable.

The group was founded by Grisman's incredibly gifted son, Sam, who is a chip off the old block with seamless transitions between electric and upright bass. It helped that he was in the room when some of these timeless compositions were penned, but Sam put in the time to hone his craft.
