Dopapod started their 2021 fall tour with a bang last Friday night at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY. The Brooklyn based quartet was all smiles as they delivered two sets of tasty originals and covers, including a few rarities. Friday night's performance marked the third show at the Brooklyn since the start of the covid-19 pandemic. Philadelphia, Pa's Muscle Tough lended support as the opening act.

Three generations of Punk Rock music fans gathered at Vina Robles Amphitheater on August 18th, many dressed in full punk regalia, for a trio of crowd-pleasing performances. The three bands appearing represented three different eras of the punk genre and were all met with an enthusiastic response from the multigenerational crowd.

Phish just wrapped up their annual three-night run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park just north of Denver. Playing to near capacity audiences, the jam band jesters brought out the goods in spades with a combinations of bust outs, covers, and some serious jams. This year also marked the ten-year anniversary since JEMP began playing the venue and the love for Dick’s, as evidenced by the weekend, still remains.

Despite technical difficulties that abridged the outdoor performance, the band delivered their signature improvisation, positive vibes and several notable covers. This included an impromptu acoustic set to finish out the night inside the Stanhope House after the power for the PA mysteriously went out.

Shakedown Street is not only the place to find great tie-dyes, it’s also where many of our four legged friends hang-out. What’s it like to be a member of this elite canine group, the Dead Head tour dogs? “It’s grrrrreat”. What could be better than being on tour again, hanging-out, soaking up the scene, scarfing a treat, playing tug-of-war. “This is way more fun than staying home and chasing your tail”.

Three songs deep, Nathaniel Rateliff began urging the capacity Red Rocks Amphitheatre crowd to lay their midweek worries aside and party with him on a Wednesday night. His rhetorical question was met with an enthusiastic roar as the collective energy of ten thousand people rolled down the storied venue’s steps and flooded the stage with positive vibes. And party they did.

Hot, dry summer winds buffeted a sold-out audience at the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles on Saturday, August 14th. The mostly older audience gathered early at the venue, one of the most beautiful in all of California. The occasion was a night of Latin flavored rock featuring the Los Angeles-based Los Lobos and the Miami flavored Tejano group, The Mavericks.

What can I say about the Faux Paws? Well, the new album takes you through the countryside down to the heart of the jazz scene and back to the serene Katy Hill. It’s got all the clever charm of an indie rom-com, all the allure of Kermit the Frog, and all the hot fun of New Orleans wrapped into one tiny bluegrass package.
