Umphrey's McGee

Genre-defying progressive sextet Umphrey’s McGee announce the November 11 release of ZONKEY, a truly unique collection of 12 innovative  mash-ups; conceived, arranged and performed in their entirety without the use of any samples. Always a band to challenge the boundaries of live performance, Umphrey’s McGee began a tradition eight years ago when the group started performing live mash-ups during their annual Halloween concerts. The event has become a fan favorite with sold out shows and highly coveted tickets.

There is nothing better than summer nights spent with good friends and great music, dancing all night long through the gentle warm rains and colorful sunsets and forgetting every care in the world. There is something about Nashville that brings some form of nostalgia for a simpler time, where things move slower, and smiles from strangers are quicker to form. The city has a laid back energy and a friendly atmosphere. I was thrilled to be there to see Umphrey’s McGee perform in this city known for great music.

Let me begin by saying that this was a typical Umphrey’s McGee show. And I was really happy with that. You see, UM does something not a lot of other bands are able to do: they bring a great energy and excitement to everything they are doing. To go along with this, all of the guys in the band are at the apex of musicians on their particular instruments and this means that even when they don’t “have it” they still play incredibly well and do great things.

Umphrey’s returns to Red Rocks over Independence Weekend for our first two night stand at the Nation’s premiere Amphitheatre. If you can’t join us in person, TourGigs will be there to bring you all the action in stunning HD with crisp soundboard audio. We like to pull out the stops in Colorado and these two nights will be no different. Don’t miss the chance to be part of it from wherever you may find yourself.

On January 1st, 2016, an intimate gathering of the UM faithful descended upon the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver for a rare Storytellers show accompanying the premier of our Reel to Real documentary. Taking time in between songs, we dug deep into the songwriting and lyrical process, shared stories of song origins, and cracked jokes in classic UM fashion.

Umphrey’s McGee returns to The Pageant in St. Louis Saturday on Saturday, October 29th and Sunday, October 30th for a raucous mash-up Halloween celebration.

With our archival documentary, Reel To Real now in the wild for almost two weeks, we figured you should know that the soundtrack is soon to follow. Seems only appropriate, right?

The 16th annual Summer Camp Music Festival shined vibrantly Friday morning, as fans from across the nation flooded through the gates of the glorious Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois for another epic celebration of music, arts and life. Born in 2001, the monumental event has grown to be one of the most celebrated Midwest events of the summer, hosting national acts such as Neil Young, Trey Anastasio, Steve Miller Band, Tom Petty, Widespread Panic and many, many more.

Reel to Real is an archival rock documentary about the innovative Umphrey's McGee, diving deep into the early years by examining their inner workings through unreleased band shot camcorder footage. It reflects on UM's days of suspended youth, racking up thousands of miles in a van and trailer without a worry in sight. But reality knocks as a founding member walks away mid tour, putting the entire venture in jeopardy. It's a view behind the curtain, one designed not to paint a picture of what you think it's like, but what it's actually like to make the journey.

Progressive jam giants Umphrey’s McGee‘s return to Las Vegas for the seventh installment of the massively popular UMBowl production was marked once again by a stand-out tour closing dual evening extravaganza where all stops were pulled out and the power given directly to the fans, for better or for worse.
