California Roots Music and Arts Festival

A festival close to our hearts, Grateful Web has been covering Cali Roots since the mid-2010s and during this time, we have seen firsthand how many hold it in high regard. An institution many believe to be the nucleus of the reggae resurgence in America, it has both played host to and even helped create some of the biggest names in the genre. At the center of it all, festival organizer Dan Sheehan runs the show.

Embarc, a leader in California’s cannabis industry, proudly announces "The Smoke Show," an immersive cannabis experience set to debut at the California Roots Music & Arts Festival (“Cali Roots”) from May 24-26.

As the countdown begins for the long-loved California Roots Music and Arts Festival, festival organizers Good Vibez Presents have added fan favorites Stick Figure to their already stacked 2024 lineup.

"Seeing the growth of Stick Figure over the last eight years has been an honor to watch. We are excited to have him on Cali Roots 2024,” says festival producer, Dan Sheehan.

Good Vibez Presents, the organizers behind the long-loved California Roots Music and Arts Festival, have announced Ziggy Marley as their Friday night headliner for the 2024 lineup. This is following the release of Marley’s critically acclaimed biopic of his late father, “Bob Marley: One Love,” for which he co-produced with his sister and mother.

Good Vibez Presents, the organizers behind the long-loved California Roots Music and Arts Festival, have been hard at work filling out their 2024 Cali Roots lineup. Having dropped the initial lineup back in November, the new year brought a new set of acts to the three-day festival’s schedule, including a special acoustic set from reggae royalty Stephen Marley, California’s own E-40 and Too Short, and N.W.A. founder turned international superstar, Ice Cube.

Today, Good Vibez Presents, festival organizers for the legendary California Roots Music and Arts Festival, have dropped a lineup sure to leave festivalgoers counting down the days until Cali Roots 2024.

Day four of Cali Roots wrapped up the weekend in a style befitting its own legacy. In a statement on the theme of the Reggae festival, it was the only day of the weekend not to feature a pure Hip Hop artist on any of its stages. The focus on the roots of the festival made for a lowkey pace at the tail end of a weekend that had been so fulfilling and so energy-consuming.

Day three of Cali Roots featured the support of artists at many stages of their careers, but almost all of whom had a strong root in the festival, dubbed that day by Alborosie as “Montereggae.” As many of the artists performing were those who were just this year given their first opportunity to take the stage, it also highlighted a theme of the weekend as many acts who had started playing smaller stages earlier in their careers were given the opportunity to truly shine in the limelight.

Day two of Cali Roots seemed to shine brighter than the last, at least metaphorically. The fog rolled in early in the afternoon, feeling less gloomy than one would expect, rather more metaphorical for the day to come.

The twelfth annual California Roots Festival came and went this year leaving a mark on all who attended from near and far. The annual family reunion for the Reggae community featured many of the classic names we have come so accustomed to seeing on the marque while welcoming in a few new faces, including some of the most inspirational names in early Hip Hop from Hieroglyphics to The Wu-Tang Clan. While the lineup fostered inspiration for a fun-filled weekend, it was clear that the festival had evolved.
