Analog Son & Fox Street | Gothic | Review

This past Friday night at the Gothic Theater in Denver, CO, two bands collided to make one of the funkiest sounds and meaningful tributes to other artists that they have ever made. The energy in the room was evident by the crowd’s fearless dancing. These are two of the fastest rising bands in our music scene, and together with some special guests, they produced.

Jesse Cook on North American Tour Now

World music/jazz guitarist Jesse Cook has scheduled 32 highly-anticipated U.S. concerts to support the release of his ninth studio album, One World (eOne Music). Cook’s release, which debuted at No. 1 on the jazz and world music charts in his native Canada, was released in the U.S. on October 2 and debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums.

Jeff Plankenhorn Goes on a "SoulSlide" Sonic Journey with New CD

Acclaimed Austin-based guitarist Jeff Plankenhorn, who’s worked with a host of high-profile artists including Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster, Bobby Whitlock and Ray Wylie Hubbard, will step into the solo spotlight with his new CD, SoulSlide, due March 18 on Lounge Side Records.

Release Date for Vinyl LP Version of "Find a Way to Care"

Forty Below Records has announced a February 26 release date for the vinyl LP version of the latest album from legendary blues artist, John Mayall, Find a Way to Care, which follows its critically-acclaimed CD launch in September, 2015. John Mayall and his band have scheduled a series of U.S. tour dates starting in early March to help kick-off the LP’s debut.

Paul Kantner Died Today at age 74

Paul Kantner, co-founding member of Jefferson Airplane died today after suffering a massive heart attack just days earlier.  Kantner had been with the Airplane and its later spin-off, Jefferson Starship for half a century. Kantner suffered his first heart attack back in March of 2015.

90 Years of Louis Armstrong's Hot Fives

This February for Black History Month, the Louis Armstrong House Museum will honor the most influential band in jazz history, Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five through its new exhibit: Hotter Than That – 90 Years of Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five.  The Hot Five began recording in November 1925 but really hit their stride with their records of February 1926, including hits such as "Heebie Jeebies" and "Cornet Chop Suey."

Keller Williams' KWatro | 1/22/16 | Review

Keller Williams' KWatro came to town last Friday. I was anxious to see what songs and what style would be played. I had heard Keller do funk, bluegrass, rock, reggae and pop. Among a few others I am failing to mention. With the addition of three other musicians there is also an entire new ensemble to experience. I had head heard Keller play with The Keels, The String Cheese Incident and Yonder Mountain String Band.
