To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Merry Prankster Acid Tests, Grateful Web will be holding an 'Acoustic Acid Test Celebration' at Cozmic in Eugene on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 7pm. The 21 and over event is scheduled to run until 5am.
The original Acid Tests were a series of parties spearheaded by author Ken Kesey in Portland, Oregon and the San Francisco Bay Area during the mid-1960's, centered primarily around the use and advocacy of the psychedelic drug LSD, also known as "acid".
The Merry Pranksters were central to organizing the Acid Tests, including counterculture icon Neal Cassady, Ken Babbs, Mountain Girl, George Walker and The Grateful Dead.
The historic gathering, which will be headlined by Portland's psychedelic rock group Garcia Birthday Band, will feature the world renowned Psychedelic Express Lightshow. Attendees are encouraged to attend in costume. Several original Merry Pranksters will be participating in the festivities and the Furthur Bus, weather permitting, will be at the venue in full regalia.
According to Grateful Web's Aaron Dietrich, promoter of the event, "It is a great honor to be producing such an historic 50th anniversary event and we are working hard to make the night special, safe, and extremely weird."
Zane Kesey, son of Ken Kesey, caretaker of the Furthur Bus will be leading a colorful cast of characters and is prepared to give exciting and energetic interviews about this historic and wild event.
All attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of socks and/or a pair of gloves to donate . Everyone who donates will be entered into a raffle to win prizes. Proceeds go to Hosea Youth Services.
