As they gear up to return to the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre next month, Denver-based funk and soul ensemble The Motet have released an extended dance mix of their single "Supernova" as a special gift for their fans. PRESS HERE to listen. The original version of the song appears on the band's critically-acclaimed latest album, Death Or Devotion, released earlier this year via their own label. Check out the first listen of "Supernova (Extended Dance Mix)" via TheUntz.com, who called it "a monster throwback jam that takes the band's brash and brassy sound and twists it into a danceable disco groovefest" and added, "taking cues from disco grooves, as well as its more avant-garde 80s progeny like Le Chic and Talking Heads, The Motet get some space and room to play on this fun and funky take."

"I grew up listening to early 80s 12-inch remixes of funk, soul and dance music," shares the group's keyboardist Joey Porter. "I loved the trippy reggae-like production they used.  We used this as inspiration for the 'Supernova (Extended Dance Remix).'  Not only extending the tune but making it something new."

"I am inspired by the psychedelic properties of delay effects in dub, electronic and rock music," adds bassist Garrett Sayers. "I am also drawn to long form tracks that allow space for instrumental interludes, which in turn provides time for uninterrupted dancing and time to utilize the aforementioned delay effects."

Hailed a "a funk/soul gem" by the Associated Press, Death Or Devotion is a killer collection of 10 feel good grooves including the singles "Highly Compatible," "Whacha Gonna Bring," "Supernova" and "Get It Right." PRESS HERE to listen to Death Or Devotion.

Next up, The Motet return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for their 5th annual show at the legendary Colorado venue on Friday, July 12th for a co-headlining show with fellow funk outfit Galactic and support from Moon Hooch. The Motet will be joined by some special guests throughout their set including Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band) and Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation). The band can also be seen at various festivals throughout the summer; PRESS HERE for all upcoming tour dates and ticketing info.

Death Or Devotion, the group's ninth overall studio album, earmarks an important point in The Motet's journey. For 20 years, the seven-piece (Dave Watts [drums], Joey Porter [keys], Garrett Sayers [bass], Ryan Jalbert [guitar], Lyle Divinsky [vocals], Drew Sayers [sax] and Parris Fleming [trumpet]) have been fusing boisterous badass funk and swaggering soul with a thought-provoking inventiveness to create something truly unique. Each member of the band brought something different to the mix for the new album with their own unique set of musical influences and styles. The collection of songs finds the band pushing boundaries and breaking new ground, welcoming old fans and new audiences alike - continually providing a welcome escape for listeners.
