Magnolia Boulevard’s debut album, “New Illusion” is contagious with its bluesy, soulful flavor and grooves that jam effortlessly. I listened to the Kentucky quintet’s last track, “Sister” first. Maggie Noelle, lead vocalist, wrote the song in honor of her best friend. It’s the record’s standout. The gentle picking guitar and rumbling bass, that is almost meditative, initiates its heartfelt sentiments. The tribute is captivating both in its lyrics and accompanying instrumentals.

Today, Connecticut-based indie-groove band Goose announced a pair of socially distant live concerts at South Farms in Morris, CT. The event venue, a multipurpose farm, has designed a grid-like layout where the audience is situated in pairs, on an 8’x8’ plot of grass.

“We’re looking forward to playing a live show in our home state for the first time since December… people won’t be right up against the stage so I’m going to need everyone to bust out dance moves that are epic enough for me to see while we play”

Youth is not wasted on this young man, Marcus King. South Carolina born and raised, Marcus brings a soulful empathy to his music in whatever musical muscle he chooses to flex. Recently he performed his Four of a Kind series, live-streamed from Nashville in an empty venue. Each Monday he would take on a different theme, hosting friends like Brent Hinds from Mastodon or Billy Strings and Maggie Rose on another night. He performed his new album, El Dorado, in entirety and the last show featured his rendition of The Last Waltz.

When COVID forced the organizers of the first ever Earl Scruggs Music Festival to postpone the event to 2021, they figured there was nothing they could do. But following successful drive-in concerts in the US and Europe, and a well received first drive-in concert with Darin & Brooke Aldridge, we’re proud to announce that we can bring some of the magic of the Earl Scruggs Music Festival to live audiences on Saturday, September 5.

Today, Virginia’s genre-defying outfit Kendall Street Company (KSC) announces the upcoming release of their fifth studio album The Stories We Write For Ourselves, and has treated fans to the first single from the album “Lady In Green” which is now available across all major digital platforms. The difference between the Cincinnati and Austin area codes is one digit. Austin is 512. Cincinnati is 513. The new album 5123 by The 4Track All-Stars is what you get when the band’s leader, Jay Reynolds, starts out working with Bootsy Collins in one city and ends up gigging with Ray Benson in the next. You get contrasts. Western Swing icon Emily Gimble singing over Moog bass. The Queen City’s Napoleon Maddox trading off with steel guitar.
