Ember Days (2021) is the latest CD release from Carl Weingarten. Much of the music was produced during the Covid shut-in, during which Carl performed and recorded nearly all the instruments. The CD contains 10 new instrumentals that range from the smoky jazz club mood of Geola, to the rock-fusion guitars of 'Goodbye Sun,' to the elegant choral inspired title track, all composed around Carl’s signature guitar sound.

Grateful Mahalo was a birthday party celebrated on the island of Kaua`i and all over the world for our favorite birthday boy, Bill Kreutzmann, drummer of the Grateful Dead, born May 7, 1946 in Palo Alto, California. Bill was told he was a teenager that he had no rhythm, but began playing drums in his early teens anyway.

Jon Byrd plays “what they used to call Country Music.” Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he grew up in the piney woods of south Alabama before becoming pivotal in Atlanta’s storied Redneck Underground music scene.  He was always a featured sideman, but his first solo recording (Byrd’s Auto Parts 2007) didn’t happen until after he moved to Music City nearly 20 years ago.

Today, the Nashville-via-London duo Ida Mae (Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean) shared their new song “Little Liars” from their upcoming sophomore album Click Click Domino. "‘Little Liars’ is a runaway song, the first person whisperings of a seductress that you’ll follow whatever the consequences," writes Turpin. "This song was written on a late 1800s Mandolinetto that we picked up at the end of a tour in Nashville and what you hear on the record is actually the demo.

Pat Metheny was born in Lee's Summit, MO on August 12, 1954 into a musical family. Starting on trumpet at the age of 8, Metheny switched to guitar at age 12. By the age of 15, he was working regularly with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City, receiving valuable on-the bandstand experience at an unusually young age. Metheny first burst onto the international jazz scene in 1974.

The Owsley Stanley Foundation, in partnership with the Tim Buckley Estate, is pleased to announce the seventh release from Owsley’s storied archive of live concert recordings – Bear’s Sonic Journals: Merry-Go-Round at the Carousel, a previously unreleased 1968 live concert featuring Tim Buckley, accompanied by John Miller (bass), David Friedman (vibraphone), and Carter “C.C.” Collins (percussion).
