After a brief hiatus while bringing together a fresh lineup, Cornmeal is back at it…and in a big way! After playing a few select shows in early November, Cornmeal is very excited to be back in their hometown of Chicago for one of their favorite traditions, the 13th annual Cornmeal Thanksgiving show at the Vic on November 30th. They will be joined by very special guest Willie Watson (formerly of Old Crow Medicine Show). The new lineup includes the co-writing team and founding members Chris Gangi (bass) and Wavy Dave Burlingame (banjo), along with newest members Scott Tipping (guitar) formerly of Backyard Tire Fire, Drew Littell (drums), and guest appearing on fiddle is Molly Healey formerly of Big Smith from Springfield, MO.
While the lineup has changed – Cornmeal remains the one of the premier progressive bluegrass and Americana bands and is looking forward to reconnecting with fans on the road in 2014. The new lineup brings a fresh energetic take on the classic Cornmeal sound which is influenced by American roots and folk music and seamlessly blends lightning fast tempos and impeccable harmonies into an unrivaled live performance.
You can hear a sample of the new lineup performing the Cornmeal classic, “When the World’s Got You Down,” at the Des Moines Halloween party on Nov. 2nd, 2013.
In other Cornmeal news - In the next few weeks, the band will be announcing their first tour since their break. A limited amount of presale tickets will be available at a discounted price of $10 starting Saturday, November 23rd! Once that allotment runs out, advance tickets will be $20.
