Alison Krauss & Union Station Share New Single, Introducing Russell Moore on Vocals

Today, with the release of new single "Granite Mills," Alison Krauss & Union Station share the second preview of their first album in 14 years. Out March 28th on Down The Road Records, the forthcoming Arcadia LP is a set of ten songs that transcend time, reveal beautiful and tragic truths, and reaffirm why the group remains one of the most influential, widely celebrated acts of the past four decades. Arriving on the heels of "Looks Like The End Of The Road" – which spotlights Alison Krauss' "undiminished soprano" (Rolling Stone) and Jerry Douglas' "soul-piercing steel guitar" (Billboard) – "Granite Mills" is a traditional song that tells a dire and fatal tale, showcasing the gripping vocal talents of brand new band member Russell Moore.

"Jerry, Ron, Barry and I all met when Dan Tyminski left the band, and Jerry asked me, 'What do you think?' I said, 'Russell Moore,' and they all said, 'Absolutely!' I couldn't believe it when we went into the studio and his voice came through the speakers," says Alison Krauss. "He just stands there and sings with his hands in his pockets, and he kills it. The first song he did was 'Granite Mills' and about 10 minutes in, Ron was covering his mouth because he started giggling. Russell came in and inspired us all."

Best known as the frontman for chart-topping group IIIrd Tyme Out, Russell Moore is the International Bluegrass Music Association's most awarded male vocalist of all time, further adding to Alison Krauss & Union Station's decorated history of more than 70 collective GRAMMY® Awards, tens of millions of albums sold, and numerous other accolades. But even during the band's extended period apart – each member building a thriving solo career, collaborating with some of the greatest artists in the world – they never stopped searching for and patiently collecting the music that might one day bring them back together.

In addition to "Granite Mills" and "Looks Like The End Of The Road" – written by Jeremy Lister and "heightened by the purity of Krauss's voice" (The New York Times) – Arcadia's songs serve as contemporary reflections of history, penned by such modern masters as Robert Lee Castleman, Viktor Krauss, Bob Lucas, JD McPherson and Sarah Siskind. Recorded in studios across Nashville, Arcadia follows 2011's Paper Airplane, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Bluegrass and Folk Charts, and further expands the immaculately crafted, endlessly surprising sound that Alison Krauss & Union Station are known and loved for.

Beginning this spring, Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead vocal), Jerry Douglas (Dobro, lap steel, vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, vocals), Barry Bales (bass, vocals) and Russell Moore (co-lead vocals, guitar, mandolin) will perform the music of Arcadia live at 75 tour dates across North America. From April through September, stops include iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, LA's Greek Theatre, NYC's Beacon Theatre and dozens more, with special guest Willie Watson.
