New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Connor Donohue is excited to announce the release of his new single, "Elephants," now available on all major streaming platforms. This track marks the second single from his highly anticipated album, Stray Dogs, set for release on October 11, 2024.
"Elephants" holds a special place in Donohue's catalog. Written in a single sitting on his 22nd birthday, it was the first song he collaborated on with longtime producer Joel T. Hamilton in 2011. The newly recorded version reimagines the song, reflecting over a decade of artistic growth and musical evolution.
"I've played this song at every show since I wrote it," Donohue shares. "It's evolved over time, and discovering a more upbeat groove using my grandpa's old drum machine really transformed it. This recording captures that energy and showcases how far I’ve come as an artist."
The single highlights Donohue's powerful storytelling and impassioned vocals, drawing from Americana influences while crafting a sound distinctly his own. Featuring Ron Wiltrout on drums, George Barraeis on bass, and Tyler Ross on lap steel, "Elephants" offers a lush sonic backdrop that perfectly complements Donohue’s raw, emotive voice.
"Elephants" also offers a preview of Stray Dogs, an album that promises to be a genre-blurring journey through the heart of New Orleans. Co-produced by Joel T. Hamilton and Emily Eck, the album was recorded between Charleston and New Orleans, capturing the gritty charm and poetic depth that define Donohue's music.
Listeners can stream "Elephants" now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major digital platforms.
