Chaos Ensues as Alt-Country Artist Podge Lane Takes Sonic Leaps and Questions Life through His Third Album Release, Multiple Dead Ends, Out August 30th!

Podge Lane, the unapologetically brash alt-country artist from Ireland, announces the release of his highly anticipated third full-length album, Multiple Dead Ends, available August 30th via his independent label, Teip Records.

After carving out a distinct niche with his critically acclaimed sophomore LP Common Country Misconceptions, Lane is back with Multiple Dead Ends, a sonic reinvention that propels his music into uncharted territory. With unapologetic electric guitar riffs and chaotic yet controlled soundscapes, Lane uses the 12-track album to explore existential questions, asking, “What have I done in the time I’ve got?”

Over the past year, Lane has been anything but idle. Following the rootsy release of Common Country Misconceptions in March 2023, he dropped two standalone winter-themed singles, "Snow" and "Hailstone," in November. Lane's relentless touring schedule saw him headlining shows across Ireland and the UK, with notable performances at the legendary Green Note in Camden. He has also supported renowned acts such as The Wedding Present, The Riptide Movement, Vieux Farka Touré, and Rachael Sage.

“I always planned to tell my first two albums' stories the way I did—my past and my present—and to end the trilogy with this one, my future," Lane shares. "As someone who used to go into my parents' room at 5 or 6 because I was afraid of turning 40, the future can be scary. So I tried to detail my feelings of this fear of aging through a winding narrative that never really ends, 'cause I guess there is no end."

Throughout Multiple Dead Ends, Lane confronts his long-standing anxieties, which resonate throughout the album's 12 tracks. Whether through playful, Harry Nilsson-esque acoustic jabs at his inner demons in “My House” and “Left Foot Right Foot (Panic)," panicked harmonica solos, and blues slide reminiscent of The White Stripes in “Phobophobia," or the vulnerable and tender piano ballad “The Little Things,” Lane fearlessly faces his fears, pushing them to their limits in a fiery blend of alt-country and rock influences.

Lane has garnered praise for his ability to blend "Beatles-adjacent… everyday life-induced anxiety in a light-hearted, witty manner” (HotPress) and for his "enlightened dark humor that has become a hallmark of his music, drawing comparisons to the likes of John Prine and Jimmy Buffet” (The Grateful Web). Multiple Dead Ends promises to challenge deflective humor and shed light on the raw interior of the singer-songwriter's soul.

As he seeks answers to questions that never seem to end, Podge Lane breaks his sound and asks, “What is going to happen now?” Multiple Dead Ends will be officially launched on August 28th at Little Whelan’s in Dublin, with more tour dates to be announced.
