On this auspicious Friday the 13th, Consider the Source has dropped their latest musical masterpiece, The Stare, a 5-song collection produced by none other than David Prater. Fans of the band are already buzzing with excitement following the recent pro-shot video for Mouthbreather, which garnered over 15k streams in its first week on YouTube.

Message from the Band:

“When we recorded this album during the pandemic in 2020, our career—and the world in general—was in a very uncertain place. With our touring schedule cut to a halt and all music venues shut down, we honestly didn’t know if we would get through it all. One thing was certain though—we still wanted to create music and put it out into the world. So we got together with producer David Prater and worked on this 5-song collection, living together in Asheville, NC, during the process. It was a special time, one we will always remember, and we hope you can hear it in the music.

Thank you all for believing in and supporting us, allowing us to continue pursuing our passion. We have the best fans in the world and can’t wait to perform these new songs live for you!

More on The Stare:

Though released today, the origins of The Stare trace back to 1992, when producer David Prater was working with a young band called Dream Theater on their breakthrough album Images & Words. This record became a prog rock staple, inspiring musicians worldwide, including three young men who would later form Consider the Source.

Fast forward, and Consider the Source developed their unique sound over 15+ years of touring and releasing albums. A chance meeting with Prater after a show in a small Colorado town led to an unexpected collaboration. The global pandemic halted the band’s tour, but it also opened the door to recording an album with Prater in Asheville, NC. What began as a series of remote writing sessions blossomed into an immersive recording experience, with the band and producer living and working together in a makeshift studio for over a week.

The result? A 5-song album filled with the raw energy of live performances and intricate arrangements that define Consider the Source’s sound.

The Stare Track Listing:

  1. Trial By Stone (13:22)
  2. I Can See My Eyes (6:37)
  3. Mouthbreather (9:18)
  4. New World Čoček (9:35)
  5. Preemptive Vengeance (5:06)

Produced by David Prater, The Stare is a testament to the power of creative resilience and a unique time in the band’s career.
