esperanza spalding has detailed a number of key performances for 2025, including a 12-night residency at the Blue Note in NYC, beginning February 18. spalding’s itinerary also includes Big Ears in Knoxville, TN on March 28 and tour dates in New Orleans and Kansas in April. Coming back to her jazz-club roots, esperanza offers an intimate and expansive set featuring the most loved songs from her broad discography, accompanied by some of jazz’s brightest young stars (plus surprise guests from her past and present)! spalding will perform in a quartet format with frequent collaborators Morgan Guerin (bass, saxophone, keys, voice), Eric Doob (drums, voice, tracks, percussions) and Matthew Stevens (guitar, voice, bass). The sets will feature music from across her extensive catalog, including recent titles from 12 Little Spells and Songwrights Apothecary Lab as well as her collaborative album with Milton Nascimento, Milton + esperanza. The Blue Note residency in New York runs from February 18 - 23 and February 25 - March 2, and will be spalding’s first residency of concerts in NYC in several years. At Big Ears and at her April shows, spalding and band will be joined by two dancers. As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted about a recent show, “spalding and her backing ensemble (including interpretative dancers and backing singers Kaylin Horgan and Tashae Udo) brought impactful intent to every moment of their 95-minute set.”
spalding’s most recent album release is a collaboration with beloved Brazilian musical icon Milton Nascimento. Released by Concord Records in August of last year, Milton + esperanza earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album, was produced and arranged by spalding and met with tremendous raves, profiles and appearances ranging from the New York Times to NPR’s Tiny Desk. spalding just hosted a special event in Los Angeles to celebrate Nascimento, which featured surprise appearances from Thundercat, Herbie Hancock, Carolina Shorter and Nascimento himself, duetting with spalding on some of his beloved songs. spalding is also the special guest music director for the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar and recently discussed her career and new album with NPR’s It’s Been A Minute, the Jazziz Podcast and the Tape-Op podcast.
