Today, singer/songwriter Evan Honer has shared his new single “lead role,” the next offering from his upcoming EP annabelle, due out December 13 through Cloverdale Records. Driven by acoustic guitar and vulnerable lyrics, annabelle is an insightful portrayal of closure following a relationship.

“This is a very out-of-the-box song for me,” shares Honer. “It’s an interesting concept with very unstructured rhyme schemes. ‘lead role' continues the story of this girl ‘annabelle’ and puts it into the perspective of a movie. It starts off with, ‘I got the lead role to a part I never wanted / In a movie where the guy lets down the girl in the end.’ The song features doubled vocals, and I’ve only released one other song where my vocals have been doubled. This sound is new for me and I am very happy with how it came out.”

“lead role” follows “me, without you,” which will also appear on annabelle, Honer’s third release in under seven months. The forthcoming EP arrives on the heels of his highly anticipated sophomore album Fighting For, a series of singles, and his latest EP Different Life, marking a prolific breakout year for the rising Nashville-based artist. Recently, Honer released a reimagined version of his song “Mr. Meyers” featuring guest vocals from Charles Wesley Godwin, with the original racking up 3 million streams to date and becoming a fan favorite.

Honer released the Different Life EP earlier this fall, which features four brand-new songs. Among them is “Scared To Love Again,” which had Whiskey Riff raving, “At such a young age, Honer seems to have an innate ability to evoke emotions in a listener through his lyricism in a way that very few artists are able to master.” Over the summer, Honer also shared a reimagined version of his song “Fighting For” featuring a stunning duet with breakout country star Hailey Whitters, prompting Country Central to rave “the collaboration works perfect.”

Released this summer through Cloverdale Records, Honer’s sophomore album Fighting For follows the breakout success of his 2023 debut West on I-10. He has since earned a staggering 350 million streams worldwide with over 3.3 million monthly listeners, sold-out tours across the US and Europe, and millions of followers across his socials. Fighting For captures Honer’s whirlwind breakout success as well as all the excitement, challenges, and stresses that come along with it. Highlights include the “striking acoustic offering” (Holler) “Take Me As I Come” featuring fellow rising star Wyatt Flores, the vulnerable “heart-wrencher” (Country Central) “Easier,” the “autobiographical inner reckoning” (Atwood Magazine) “Nowhere Fast,” and the title track “Fighting For,” which People Magazine exclaimed “proves his artistic worth.”

After wrapping his sold-out nationwide Nowhere Fast Tour this fall, Honer will hit the road for a batch of dates with Wyatt Flores in December, including shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Brooklyn Paramount, and Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
