January 27, 2022 marks Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks 10th Anniversary. This historic event made its debut at the beloved Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater in 2012 and was the first winter concert to be produced at the world-famous Colorado venue.
What started as a far-fetched idea, envisioned by Icelantic Director of Partnerships, Sam Warren, has become one of Colorado’s most iconic winter events. Alongside Sam’s family at Icelantic Skis, the great team at The City of Denver, and concert promotion experts AEG Presents, Winter on the Rocks is poised to welcome yet another sold out crowd on Friday, January 28th. Passionate about skiing and enjoying the outdoors, Icelantic Skis continues to be dedicated to its community and pushing the envelope by thinking outside of the box to celebrate the winter sports community.
When Winter on the Rocks began, Outdoor Retailer’s SnowShow (then SIA)’s trade show brought the winter sports industry together every year. Famous for after-hours networking events, The SnowShow is where folks in the snow sports industry foster life-long friendships. This industry is uniquely familial in this way. It was during one of these tradeshows in Las Vegas that the idea came to Sam. ‘If this event ever moves to Denver, I’m going to throw a concert at Red Rocks!’ Through grit and determination, support from the City of Denver, help from his friends and a vision that became clearer and clearer, Sam did just that.
Eleven years later, the same group of friends who started the event will meet at the park on January 28th for the highly anticipated 10th Anniversary of Winter on the Rocks, featuring DIPLO, Sofi Tukker, Talib Kweli, DJ Matt Cassidy, and Jacoby.
“We started iWOTR with the vision to celebrate everything that is AMAZING about our snow sports, Colorado, and the music loving community. As a couple of kids who grew up right up the road in Evergreen, the ability to work alongside AEG Presents Rocky Mountains and the City of Denver (Red Rocks) to bring this unique and unforgettable experience to life for 10 years has been nothing short of incredible. We’re so appreciative to all our family at Icelantic Skis & The Pinecone Project, AEG Presents, City of Denver, to all of our brand partners, the snow sports community, and the great people of Colorado for embracing and supporting our dreams. 10 years in the books, and the story has just begun” said Sam Warren.
Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks was built on community, bringing people together, lifting each other up and supporting each other’s dreams. This is the heartbeat of Winter on the Rocks, what drives it and keeps it alive - the spirit of community.
