The MuseBox announced today that Joe Moorhead has revealed a new video for his song, “Drinks in Our Hands.” The beach-based video, which includes exclusive footage of Moorhead in concert, was directed by Marcus Morelli and released by Squeaky Chair Music. Moorhead, who has recently received comparisons to Jack Johnson and the Dave Matthews Band for his laidback style of acoustic pop, is currently on tour in support of his full-length record Tides Are Rising.
According to musiccourtblog.com, the sounds and images of Moorhead’s work transport listeners to a happier (and warmer) place: “What we need is some music to help us ward away the chill in the air and focus only on the chill of cold beer, warm sunshine, and a beach somewhere. Thankfully, we have Joe Moorhead.” Moorhead and director Morelli collaborated on “Drinks in Our Hands” with that exact sentiment in mind. The new video strikes a familiar chord with fans of Moorhead’s previous feel-good, tropical visuals. Like his recent hit “Bad Day,” “Drinks in Our Hands” sees Moorhead, his band-mates, and several friends in full relaxation mode while surveying the golden beach and blue water. Interspersed throughout the video are clips of Moorhead performing with his band. The mood is laidback, and true to the song’s title, cold beverages abound.
Moorhead hails from Cleveland, Ohio, an unlikely city of origin for a band known for such happy-go-lucky, tropical pop. Moorhead has elevated his band from its Midwest origins by offering listeners a view on life much more common in a different region: “The vibe of my music definitely comes from my years back and forth to the Virgin Islands, and not Cleveland!” Over the past few years, Moorhead and his band have played hundreds of college campuses, music festivals and venues throughout the Americas.
