Leftover Salmon is thrilled to kick off the Memorial Day Drive-In Tailgate Concert Series Presented by Driftless Music Gardens in Yuba, WI on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, May 28, 2021. The venue is located a short drive between Madison, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Lacrosse & The Quad Cities. Gates Open at 4 and the show is 7-10pm.
Music takes place all weekend long at the Drive-In Tailgate with Horseshoes & Hand Grenades playing on Saturday, May 29 and The Infamous Stringdusters capping off the weekend Sunday, May 30. These shows will be set up as a drive-in tailgate concert and each night’s show is sold separately. A very limited number of on-site private group campsites are available and will be sold in advance. “We all need something to look forward to,” says Driftless Music Gardens. “Life is strange. As artists, we’ve had no choice but to roll with the changes brought on by COVID-19. Driftless Music Gardens is adapting to the new normal by getting bands and music fans together in a more intimate setting. Our first announcement for 2021 is a full weekend of bluegrass.”
Throwing a concert has changed in the time of social distancing and Driftless Music Gardens will be doing everything they can to ensure musicians and fans have the safest possible experience. They have dramatically cut capacity to limit crowds. Four people are allowed per vehicle and each car will have a 15-20-foot personal tailgating area to enjoy music from while remaining socially distant. Guests will be asked to wear masks in all common areas (check-in, merch, vendors, bathrooms, etc.). People must practice social distancing and proper hand washing. They say, “We will be operating cautiously as we proceed with the future of live music... We want to set a good example for the future of live music in our beautiful, natural amphitheater.”
More About Leftover Salmon: Since their earliest days as a forward thinking, progressive bluegrass band who had the guts to add drums to the mix into their ever evolving sound, to their role as a pioneer of the modern jamband scene, to their current status as elder-statesmen of the scene, Leftover Salmon has been a crucial link in keeping alive the traditional music of the past while at the same time pushing that sound forward with their own unique style.
The band, built around the core of founding members Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman, along with banjo-wiz Andy Thorn, bassist Greg Garrison, and drummer Alwyn Robinson, is excited to be performing as Leftover Salmon after such an unexpected and lengthy break. As much as we wish more could attend the show and COVID wasn't a concern, we have to keep things safe and stay within strict guidelines for all our own good.
