Longstanding funk juggernauts, Lettuce, will once again team up with the Colorado Symphony for a collaborative performance at Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado on March 2, 2025. The show mark’s the group’s third collaboration with the orchestra after a stirring 2018 debut at Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex and a co-headlining performance with East Bay funk, soul, and R&B legends Tower of Power who were both joined by the symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2022. Tickets are on sale on Friday, November 1st at 10 am MT HERE.
Guitarist Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff reflects on the group’s joint ventures over the past six years, “In 2018 we embarked on an incredible journey of musical collaboration with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. It was our first time ever playing with a symphony and we were extremely exhilarated and felt incredibly grateful to be able to have such an experience. You can feel , through the music, just how special this moment was for us, the orchestra, and all who attended Boettcher Hall that evening in Denver.”
The six-member, genre-busting band formed by four alumni of Berklee College of Music over three decades ago have made a name for themselves by combining their rich funk roots with strains of hip-hop, psychedelia, rock, go-go, jam, and beyond and have been embraced by music lovers and music legends alike. Lettuce has collaborated with the likes of bass icon Bootsy Collins, esteemed hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, jazz guitar titan John Scofield, go-go legends Jungle Boogie & Big Tony, and more. To date, their shows with the symphony are amongst the most memorable. “For a bunch of friends who started a band writing their own versions of funk mixed with Hip Hop beats, we never imagined we'd get to a point where we get to perform our tunes with an entire symphony,” drummer Adam Deitch attests, “To say performing with the Colorado symphony was a dream is an understatement. It was a milestone in our creative journey and we are so proud to present another collaborative symphonic funk journey.”
Lettuce finishes 2024 strong coming off of the 20th Anniversary remastered re-released of their highly regarded album Live in Tokyo, releasing it for the first time ever on vinyl, and launching Lettuce Live, a new subscription-based platform that features real-time uploads from tours, unreleased live performances banning their 3+ decade career and houses their entire discography. The band’s 2024 touring schedule will conclude after 4 nights at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle, Washington November 7-10.
The group is poised to make their third performance with the Colorado Symphony their best one yet continuing to share more surprises in store leading up to the March performance. For a complete list of tour dates and updates, please visit lettucefunk.com.
