Indie rockers, sports fans, and anyone that supports the work of the Make The World Better Foundation knows that benefit concerts are a cornerstone of the organization's fundraising and awareness efforts. This year’s concert was held once again at the beautiful Dell Music Center and featured Philly singer-songwriter Alex G, Toronto pop-sensations Alvvays, and San Francisco-based opener Tanukichan. Over $100,000.00 was raised and the event drew the Dell’s largest audience to date.
The funds raised from the show will benefit MTWB’s mission of connecting people and inspiring stewardship through revitalizing public spaces in Philadelphia, including the organization’s current overhaul of the Vare Recreation Center in Grays Ferry in partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation and the City’s Rebuild Initiative.
“It’s really a wonderful event each year, and this year was the best benefit concert we’ve had so far. To see so many people come out to support MTWB, and to know the kind of impact it will have on the organization is truly amazing,” says Jesse Rendell, MTWB's Executive Director.
MTWB co-founder Connor Barwin is a driving force behind the annual event and is involved in every aspect of planning the concert. “Thank you to the Dell for hosting us again this year. We are so proud to have been putting this show on for ten years! Alex G and everyone that attended this show is helping MTWB make a difference at Vare Rec Center and for all the kids that will use the park for years to come!” says Barwin.
Susan Slawson, General Manager of the Dell Music Center adds, “Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will again benefit from the great work of MTWB. Thanks to Connor Barwin and his amazing team, the Dell Music Center hosted a standing room only benefit that will serve the youth of our city by providing continuous funding to rebuild playgrounds. Thank you MTWB, we are truly better together”
