Better Together Denver, a volunteer-run, 501(c)(4) organization focused on increasing civic engagement among Denverites, announced today a FREE concert Oct. 12 in partnership with Denver’s Levitt Pavilion, featuring a DJ set by Colorado-based electronic act, Big Gigantic. This non-partisan event, Make Your Vote GIGANTIC, aims to inspire all eligible voters, regardless of background or political beliefs, to register to vote and take part in the upcoming election.
The event offers free entry to concert goers who show proof of their updated voter registration status. Attendees who aren’t registered will have the opportunity to register on-site, with the support of the Denver Elections Division and access to online registration through the Colorado Secretary of State's website. People who are not eligible to vote will also have free entry to the show with alternative opportunities to get civically involved. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to have Big Gigantic headline this event, combining the power of music with the importance of voting,” said Uriel Berrum, event Co-Chair and Board Member of Better Together Denver. “This is more than just a concert, and we hope this night leaves people energized and ready to make their voices heard this upcoming election.”
Recent statistics show a significant gap in voter participation between Denver's younger residents and their older counterparts. While the median age in Denver is 35, the median voter age is 50. During the 2023 municipal election, only 22% of registered voters aged 18-34 participated, highlighting the importance of events like this to bridge the gap and ensure a representative democracy.
“At Better Together Denver, we believe every voice matters and every vote counts,” said Lizzy Lee, event Co-Chair and Board Member of Better Together Denver. “This event, in partnership with Levitt Pavilion and Big Gigantic, is about making civic engagement fun and accessible, and empowering young people to use their voices. By helping bridge the gap in voter participation, we're building a more representative democracy and future for our city.”
This event is made possible by the generosity of sponsors including Levitt Denver, City Council District 7 (Councilwoman Flor Alvidrez), Colorado Secretary of State, Denver Elections Division, Strae Advisory Services, Effct.org, ScholarLead.com, Chad Asarch, All In Denver, Auraria Higher Education Center, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Corazon Printing, Montbello Organizing Committee, MG Public Affairs, Production Services International, Invisible City, and SideCar Public Relations.
