John Lodge, legendary bass player, songwriter, and vocalist of The Moody Blues, as well as a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is set to release an exciting new digital single, “Love Will Conquer All,” on November 15, 2024. This single marks the first release from John’s upcoming extended EP, “Love Conquers All,” which is scheduled for release on February 14, 2025. The EP will be available on CD, Limited Edition 180g Violet Vinyl, and all major streaming platforms.
“Love Will Conquer All” was written by John during a challenging period in his life following what he described as a "Christmas present he didn’t want"—a stroke. Despite facing personal adversity and the immense effort required for recovery, John found his creativity reignited, resulting in this heartwarming Christmas song. “Love Will Conquer All” is a message of love, renewal, and healing, which John hopes will inspire others through its sincere and uplifting spirit.
The song features John on vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar, and acoustic guitar. Jon Davison, lead singer of the progressive rock band YES and John’s son-in-law, contributes background vocals, provides drums and rhythms, and co-produced the track alongside John. Lead guitar is performed by Ray Nesbit, John’s Front of House Sound Engineer on tour and a talented musician in his own right. To add a deeply personal touch, John invited his wife, Kirsten, to join him on backing vocals. Their enduring 56-year marriage lies at the heart of this song, emphasizing the message that Love Will Conquer All.
“We all have our challenges in life. Mine happened last Christmas… but like a phoenix, this song emerged and helped me navigate those difficult days. As I look forward to Christmas this year, I know it was love that carried me through. My Christmas wish for everyone is that they are surrounded by love (and great music) this year,” John shared.
The single will be available on November 15, 2024, on all streaming platforms and as an instant gratification track when pre-ordering the accompanying EP.
