Paper Diamond To Embark On Biggest Tour To Date With Excision
Paper Diamond is making quite a name for himself, and it comes as no surprise to those familiar with his endlessly creative music that the name Paper Diamond itself carries. As he simply put, “Paper Diamond draws from an origami concept in that If you have a piece of paper, whatever your diamond shape is (simple or complex), that’s YOUR art. For me musically speaking, whether it’s simple or has a lot of layers, it’s my self-expression. Paper Diamond is art".
Skill and versatility has landed Paper Diamond on stage with some of the biggest names in the game, as he has been personally selected as an opener by the iconic Bassnectar, newly-minted superstar Skrillex, EDM mainstay Pretty Lights, and now dubstep heavyweight Excision. The hip-hop community has also welcomed Paper Diamond with open arms – recent collaborator, Big Boi gave him a shout-out in Vibe Magazine, and his track “The 40 Thieves” had an exclusive premiere on Jay-Z’s Life + Times. In an interview with Life + Times, Paper Diamond said "I've been taught that music is a conversation. I personally use music to express my voice".
With his stacked schedule, heading out on a 3 month tour with Excision was not an easy decision to make at first, but Paper Diamond makes it a priority to refuse to let anyone pigeonhole his sound. While “genre-defying” is an overused word, Paper Diamond is one of the few producers who truly pulls it off, seamlessly weaving together genres as diverse as electro, trap, funk, dubstep, house, moombahton and hip-hop, all with a whiff of ganja smoke floating through it.
Fueled by this insatiable curiosity and exploration of sound, Paper Diamond is rarely in one place for long. From meeting with Big Boi in Atlanta, West Coast collaborating with The Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, hanging at Timbaland’s studio in Virginia, or working at Diplo's Mad Decent, the travels have yet to cease. At the end of the day, he’ll always land back to his Colorado home, celebrating the recent legalization of marijuana and helming the ship at his Elm and Oak label. Blog Alt Daily recently called Paper Diamond "The Jay-Z of the EDM scene".
With so much on his plate, you couldn’t fault Paper Diamond for taking a break, he never rests -- regardless he’ll be part of not one but two New Year’s Eve celebrations - one on December 28th at Wintersalt in San Francisco with co-headliners Diplo, Theophilus London, Zedd and more, plus a huge show for New Year's Eve 2013 in Portland at Oregon Convention Center with fellow notorious party purveyors Nero (DJ set) and Kill The Noise. Then, he joins Excision on a massive spring tour which will take them across the US and Canada with over 40 dates, bringing his unique LED stage show that debuted this fall. If that’s not enough, up-and-coming electro house trio Savoy hand-selected Paper Diamond for an official remix of their forthcoming single "Under My Skin" due out December 7th on Spinnin Records.
Stay tuned for announcements on new music from Paper Diamond in the 2013!
