Pickathon has announced both the full Comedy Lineup and the Vinyl DJ Lineup, plus three new artists for the Music Lineup including rising acts Brittany Davis, Small Paul, and Cat Clyde. Seattle artist Brittany Davis broke out just recently with a powerful NPR "Tiny Desk at Home." They're wide-ranging musical perspective has been a revelation in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Another Seattle artist, Small Paul features members of The Moondoggies and Chris King & The Gutterballs. Indie roots artist Cat Clyde rounds out the new additions, hot off her much-loved GemsonVHS videos. More info is available at this LINK.
Pickathon Comedy Lineup Announced, Curated by Shain Brenden
Fridays and Saturdays at Pickathon's Lucky Barn are for the laughs! Each year, the festival brings together some of the best comedians for a raucous night of stand-up comedy. It's a Pickathon tradition that's seen the rise of comics like Kyle Kinane, Ian Karmel, Amy Miller, and more! This year, Portland's own Shain Brenden has curated the comedy lineup. Shain's a fixture of the PDX Comedy scene, a husband, father, and military veteran who uses his life experiences and knack for storytelling to paint a picture of a man 'just trying his best with what he has.' He also co-hosts a weekly podcast called ASSVILLE!
Shain's bringing along fellow Portland comics like Imani Denae. Denae's a big rising name in NW comedy, creator of the podcast Rap Dumba$$ and IDKComedy greeting cards. Denae has an excellent spot here talking about training up her white friends like Pokemon. LaughsPDX.com (the go-to website for all things Portland comedy) founder Brent Lowery is also joining the Pickathon Comedy Lineup, as is Jaren George, voted one of Portland Mercury's "Undisputable Geniuses of Comedy for 2023" (Shain is one too!). Comedian, actor, and professional roaster (and headliner!) Alex Hooper is another highlight, blending dark humor with silly positivity through a variety of personal stories. He once took on the judging panel of America's Got Talent in a roast, so he'll be bringing some spice to Pickathon. Local comic Cameron Peloso rounds out this year's comedy lineup after being recently voted Willamette Week's "Funniest Person" In Portland! More is at this LINK.
Pickathon Announces Vinyl DJ Lineup, DJs to Spin Between Sets and At Dance Parties
Pickathon is known for featuring some of the best vinyl DJs in the Northwest and beyond. These DJs are real deal vinyl connoisseurs and every DJ spinning at Pickathon is spinning new and vintage vinyl records. And vinyl from all genres of music. Older reggae and dancehall, Cumbia and Latin dance music, country and soul, indie and punk... The intimacy and warmth of vinyl is the perfect fit for Pickathon's aesthetic.
Last year, Pickathon expanded the DJ program even more, focusing on creating DJ dance parties at select Pickathon spots (and designing awesome backdrops for these DJ excursions). In 2023, they're expanding again, bringing in an even more diverse crew of DJs curated by Portland's own Rachel Good, aka DJ Stonebunny. "Portland has a really cool vinyl DJ scene," she says, "and this feels like a celebration of Portland's music community in general."
Here are a few highlights of Pickathon's Vinyl DJ Lineup:
-- Wayward Girls Soul Club -- a collective of female DJs and collectors of rare soul and R&B based in Portland OR.
-- Bri Dennon -- Portland DJ, avid vinyl collector and host of Day Dreaming on Portland's Jazz Radio, KMHD
-- The Country Co-Op -- Portland's premier country music DJ outfit

Her sets are fueled by energy and passion for danceable synthy sounds across genres such as Italo, new wave, dark wave, goth, industrial, post-punk, EBM, Hi-NRG, synth pop, electro, disco, and more.
-- DJ Maaxa -- DJ Maaxa is a Portland-based turntablist, writer, radio host, and music anthropologist. Invested in intergenerational music-making, she is joined by her ten-year-old son, Serene, who will be making his debut at Pickathon this year.
