As previously announced, the 2011 Pitchfork Music Festival will be taking place on Friday, July 15th through Sunday, July 17th! Tickets will officially be on sale today at 12 PM CST, with single-day tickets for $45 and three-day passes for $110! If last year was any indicator, three-day passes will sell out in under a week (last year they sold out in FIVE DAYS!), so be sure to get your tickets ASAP! Tickets will be available on the festival website.
In keeping with the high standard of booking and organizing one of the most innovative and refreshingly left-field festivals around, we are pleased to announce the first flock of bands confirmed to perform at this year’s festival! Friday will see the return of Animal Collective, as well as first-timers James Blake, Das Racist, and Curren$y. Saturday’s lineup begins to take form with newcomers Woods, Sun Airway, Kylesa and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, as well as returning performers Fleet Foxes and the triumphantly reformed Dismemberment Plan. Sunday’s bill will include TV on the Radio, Cut Copy, Deerhunter, Destroyer, OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), and Yuck. More performers will be announced in the weeks leading up to the festival.
An independently run, consistently sold-out event, the Pitchfork Music Festival attracts 50,000 fans of all ages from 45 states and 26 countries. In addition to presenting an outstanding musical line-up at a reasonable price, the festival also offers a vast array of other activities for attendees to enjoy. With 50 individual vendors, as well as specialty fairs, the fest not only supports local businesses and the local economy, but also promotes the Chicago arts community as a whole.
