This week, Gallego spoke at the Democratic National Convention, reflecting on his time in the Marines, where his battalion was the hardest-hit Marine unit during the war in Iraq. He shared his personal story of service, sacrifice, and the ongoing battle to secure the care that veterans like him were promised.
Gallego worked tirelessly in Congress to help pass the PACT Act, a critical piece of legislation that expanded health care and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances, such as burn pits. Thanks to his efforts, over one million veterans from multiple generations are finally getting the support they deserve – something Donald Trump failed to do during his time in office.
"Trump had four years to pass the PACT Act and help veterans. Instead, he did nothing," Gallego said. "He dodged the draft, insulted fallen soldiers, and failed to support those of us who served. Now, he and Kari Lake want to lead this country, but they don’t care about our military or our veterans."
