Continuum Arts Collective (CAC) proudly announces Revel in The Meadow Summer Jam 2023, a celebration and revival of the infamous 1973 Summer Jam festival held in Watkins Glen, NY, that featured The Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers & The Band. Revel features 10 hours of live Music, Art vendors, food, dancing, kids and adult activities, libations, and fun in the sun. All proceeds for this event will go to Continuum Arts Collective and its mission.
In the Summer of 1973, the Hippie movement of the 1960s still existed, but only in isolated pockets, tucked way in the dusty, cobwebbed corners of the counterculture. Groups like the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band, and The Band were still playing to crowds that held tightly to the ideals of the mid-1960s, which the groups themselves still carried on through their music. The bands were also undergoing personal changes reflected in them through their audience. All three bands and more than 600,000 of their fans would descend on Watkins Glen for one of the largest concerts in recorded history, Summer Jam.
Revel In The Meadow is proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of these incredible performances with a 10-hour celebration of Summer Jam 1973. Little Feat Performance by Truffle, Allmans tribute by Idlewild. The Band tribute by The Seacoast Last Waltz and a tribute to The Grateful Dead by Stone Dead.
Festival organizers Martin England and Greg Glasson are thrilled to bring this CAC event to the New England Seacoast this summer. All proceeds from this event will go to Continuum Arts Collective. This year, attendees will enjoy a camping area with tent camping, VIP section options with local beer and food, this year's food will be prepared and served by chefs Paul Cote and Joe Rhodes from Fat Dog Kitchen and NoBo.
The festival grounds will be alive with music and art, featuring unique collaborations between renowned national musicians & bands as well as local artisans, brands and food and beverage vendors. The craft tables surrounding the concert grounds offer up a broad selection of clothing, fine art, jewelry and more for attendees to explore. Patrons can also enjoy a selection of local craft beers alongside satellite bars serving additional alcoholic beverages and concessions all day and night.
In addition to an incredible musical lineup & experience, REVEL IN THE MEADOW is proud to be a Continuum Arts Collective event. Since its inception in 2015, CAC has assisted over 1,000 students in Maine and New Hampshire, and has provided music & art lessons for over 500. If you are an artist or musician at heart, and you're deprived of the knowledge and resources to pursue art and music, it's hard to be your best self. CAC is about empowering student artists and musicians who need tools and knowledge to successfully pursue their creative interests.
First band kicks off at noon on Saturday Aug 19th. Early Bird tickets are available until May 1st. For more information, and to purchase GA, VIP and camping passes, please visit www.revelfest.net
