We're getting excited about the Dancing in the Street benefit coming up at The Fillmore on December 9th. This annual gathering is always a great way to kick off the festive nature of the season. It is also one of the most important events we undertake in an effort to raise funds that we in turn grant to a multitude of organizations creating positive change in communities around the globe.
The event begins with a pre-show reception, where we enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our friends at Global Gourmet. Paired with the food this year are some great wines provided by Silver Oak, Twomey Cellars, and Winery Sixteen 600. To help set the mood for Dancing in the Street, Harry Duncan will spin a set of soul/rhythm and blues from 1967.
This year we have been working with Dan Lebowitz and his wife Jenna to craft an evening of music that will be presented in two sets. The first set, a tribute to the Summer of Love, will feature many artists who were present in 1967, along with more recent arrivals to the vibrant Bay Area music scene. Dan and Jenna helped put together the much talked-about show in Golden Gate Park, and this December show at The Fillmore offers an excellent bookend to all the Summer of Love festivities.
The second set will again feature an all-star cast playing the music of the founders of the Rex Foundation--none other than the good ol' Grateful Dead. It's sure to have you dancing in the aisles and in the street!
We are also working on our silent auction with a Summer of Love theme, with some original Fillmore posters, photographs from Herbie Greene and other surprises.
Come enjoy fine food, great music and most of all community for a night that we won’t soon forget. Tickets and info here.
