Nashville-based jam band ROOTS OF A REBELLION pride themselves on playing heavy reggae/rock/dub music for the soul. Known for their dynamic live shows showcasing their progressive sound and energy, the band once voted "Best Local Band" in Nashville Scene's reader's poll has announced their third album titled Shapes Of A Soul will be released on May 31, 2019. This marks the group's first studio album release since 2016's A Brother's Instinct, which debuted #4 on Billboard's Reggae album chart.

Fans get an early preview as the album's title track, "Shapes of a Soul," was released Friday, April 5; check out an exclusive acoustic performance video of the song shot at Castle Recording Studios here. The lead single, "One Thing," co-written with Chris Gelbuda, known for his work with Meghan Trainor, Robert Randolph, Billy Currington, will also be released ahead of the album, on May 3, as well as a corresponding music video.
ROOTS OF A REBELLION--lead vocalist and guitarist Austin Smith, guitarist/harmonica player Marco Martinez, bassist Adam Quellhorst, drummer Troy Wiggins, and brothers keyboardist Jeremyck Smith and trumpeter Justin Smith--are proud to represent another side of Nashville. In 2018, they released their first-ever live album and Blu-ray, Live at Exit/In. The sold-out hometown set was recorded live during the Elliston Place Street Festival at Exit/In.
The six-piece consistently plays over 120 shows a year and have shared the stage with 311, Rebelution, SOJA, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, The Wailers, moe., North Mississippi All Stars, Trombone Shorty, and NEEDTOBREATHE, among others, and they have performed at several music festivals including Bonnaroo, Hangout, Master Musician's Festival, Freakstomp, Kentucky Reggae Festival and Ziontific.
ROOTS OF A REBELLION will make their debut at California Roots X in Monterey, CA on May 25, 2019, sharing the bill with Slightly Stoopid, Dirty Heads, Tash Sultana and others. From there, the band will hit the road in support of Through The Roots for a series of West Coast shows (see all dates below).
