The eccentric quartet Spafford is known to add their unique style to a variety of cover songs ranging from jazz, country, grunge, and many more. On Saturday, Spafford dropped another classic cover at El Club in Detroit, MI with their encore performance of Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island." Spafford added elements of trance and house to this jazz classic that had the audience reeling for more.
"We have been playing the song for many years and decided to put a different spin on it as we explore the possibilities of blending genres in our own unique way," said guitarist Brian Moss.

Not many bands have the depth nor capability to turn a 1960s jazz classic into a house dance party. Once again, Spafford proves that the expanses of their musical reach remain limitless. This incredible show also featured alternate versions of originals "Giants in the Light" and "Ginger Stardust." Both songs were played in a breakbeat, electronic vibe with increased tempo and high-energy transitions. Spafford continues to propel their music to new levels night after night.
This week Spafford is headed to Bell's Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo, MI on January 24 before stops in Indiana and finally Chicago, IL to finish off their Winter Tour at the famed Thalia Hall on January 27.
