Wrapping up yet another landmark year, Turnpike Troubadours appeared in the penultimate episode of Yellowstone last night, performing three songs: “Good Lord Lorrie,” “Brought Me,” and “Pay No Rent.” The group has also become a recurring presence in Paramount’s new show, Landman, with six of their songs featured so far this season: “The Housefire,” “Mean Old Sun,” “The Rut,” “Empty as a Drum,” “Gin, Smoke & Lies,” and “Wrecked.”

In celebration of these placements, Turnpike Troubadours recorded new versions of “Mean Old Sun,” “Good Lord Lorrie,” “Brought Me,” and “Pay No Rent” for Western AF. The full video session will be released this Friday, December 13, while the audio is now available to listen to HERE.

One of America’s most beloved bands, Turnpike Troubadours has amassed a massive following throughout their career, with more than 1.5 billion streams globally and over 1.28 million equivalent units sold to date. Since their 2005 debut, Turnpike Troubadours has released six studio albums, including their most recent, 2023’s A Cat in the Rain (stream/purchase here). Produced by Shooter Jennings, the record marked a major comeback for the band and was released to overwhelming acclaim, with the Associated Press praising: “They’ve returned with the kind of ferocity that feels destined to put them right back on that long-term upward trajectory…The earnestness is palpable.” Additionally, Billboard declared: “Conveys the group’s superior, tightly-knit musicianship and ever-maturing, evocative lyricism,” while Spin proclaimed: “The Oklahoma group is better than ever…one of the most beloved groups in country and roots music.” Further adding to their renowned career, the band was recently inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
