After a successful 5-night east coast run, members of Lettuce joined Louis Cato & The Late Show Band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, September 30th. Ryan Zoidis (tenor saxophone), Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet) and Nigel Hall (vocals & keyboards) augmented The Late Show Band’s musical collective performing selections from their vast catalog including fan-favorite “Madison Square,” and “Silence is Golden” off their 2020 record ‘Resonate,’ in addition to the program’s nightly repertoire.

As host Stephen Colbert introduced bandleader Louis Cato, he remarked, “Louis, your tonight sound is particularly fat. Can you tell us who you have joining you tonight, please?” in which he responded, “Man, we have the horn section and the lead singer/keyboardist of the legendary funk crew, Lettuce!” Watch the introduction HERE.

Lettuce’s 5-night stint included two shows at the Brooklyn Bowl in celebration of the venue’s 15-year-anniversary and were joined by longtime collaborator, vocalist Alecia Chakor on Sunday, September 29th. In addition to two shows at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia, the band paid a special visit to Franklin Learning Center where they surprised the school band and played the music of the late Frankie Beverly and Maze with student musicians. September saw the release of Live in Tokyo (Remastered), a remastered and digitally enhanced edition of their 2004 record recorded at Blue Note Tokyo in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The record was released on vinyl for the first time ever and includes alternate versions of “Flu the Coop” and “Reunion” that were not on the original release. Additionally, the band launched Lettuce Live, a new subscription-based platform that features real-time uploads from tours, unreleased live performances spanning their 3+ decade career and houses their entire discography. It showcases the band where they shine most—in the live setting in front of the fans.

The band will cap off 2024 performances with a pair of shows supporting STS9 at Radius in Chicago on October 18th & 19th, appearances at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, FL, and will close the year with a 4-night run at Dimitrious’s Jazz Alley in Seattle, WA November 7-10.
