In normal times, Steve Kimock and Friends (John Morgan Kimock, drums, Jeff Chimenti, keys, and Reed Mathis, bass) would have returned to Mill Valley’s Sweetwater Music Hall this weekend for a three-night residency.

These are not ordinary times—oh, you noticed?—and so Steve & Co. decided to release a mini-EP, Point of No Return.  Here’s what Steve says about the EP.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Frank Zappa’s celebrated but short-lived 1970 Mothers Of Invention lineup, “Portuguese Fenders,” the first track to be released from the new collection, The Mothers 1970 is available to stream today. The newly-discovered gem is one of 70 unreleased live and studio recordings featured on The Mothers 1970,  available digitally and as a 4CD box set June 26 via Zappa Records/UMe.

Colorado based bluegrass outfit Turkeyfoot have emerged as a fully-fledged musical powerhouse on their debut full-length album Promise of Tomorrow (June 5, 2020).  Jordan Brandenburg (Mandolin), Michael Rudolph (Bass), Bridger Dunnagan (Fiddle), Dave Pailet (Guitar/Dobro), and Alex Koukov (Banjo) share momentous instrumental talent, an enthusiasm for collaboration, and some serious songwriting chops.

“Jerry Dance Party is a chance for music lovers to experience the mind-bending marriage of cutting-edge audio-visual technology with the timeless music of the Grateful Dead.” - concert promoter and Relix publisher Peter Shapiro.

From its inception, The Jerry Dance Party has brought together the best of Jerry Garcia live catalog, from his extensive and wide ranging career with the Grateful Dead to his work with Old & In The Way, Jerry Garcia Band, Merl Saunders, John Kahn, New Riders of the Purple Sage and many more.

Long-time festival favorites and jam-grass pioneers Yonder Mountain String Band have joined forces with JamBase to present Yonder May—a weekly video broadcast of YMSB sets from the 1990s and early 2000s, culled from the band’s personal, fan-gifted VHS tape collection and hand-edited (yes, painstakingly cut and spliced, remember that?) and digitized by guitarist and founding member Adam Aijala. Airing every Thursday in May at 4:20 pm EDT, Yonder May will raise funds to support the entire YMSB team while not on tour via a “virtual tip jar” for Venmo and Paypal donations.

Without question it has been a rough few months, but things are turning around. Kory Quinn & Co. released their new record, “The Blueroom.” See; it is a very promising start to May. Quinn’s music is absolutely spellbinding. His vocals are seasoned and solid yet still tender. The entire band have a breathtaking command over the genre. It’s as if they have been playing together for the past fifty years. Even as they tackle gritty subject matter, there is a free-spiritedness in the music.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are faced with no choice but to postpone the first JBE Triple A SummitFest in Boulder, CO, scheduled for August 4-7, 2020, until August 2021. While we were looking forward to seeing all of our friends and colleagues as we celebrate the Triple A format, the priority is the health and safety of everyone in our Triple A community and the citizens of Boulder, CO, which has hosted us every summer for close to three decades.

The beautiful, rolling foothills of the Catskill Mountains of Greene County, will not be filled with banjo rolls, mandolin chops, or three-part harmonies this summer. After monitoring the Covid-19 situation for months with the health and safety of guests in mind, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, scheduled for July 15-19 in Oak Hill, NY, has determined that a live event cannot be held this year. This is the first in the event’s 35-year history.

The red-eyed, twenty-foot paper mache shark that lives above the bar at Solana Beach’s famous Belly Up nightclub has been witness to countless jaw-dropping live shows in this intimate, 600 capacity live music venue—and the shark misses concerts just as much as the rest of us who are now sheltering-in-place. Today, to a sigh of relief from those with feet and those with fins, the Belly Up announced SharkBelly Festival, a new kind of festival featuring audio downloads direct from the Belly Up's archives—a.k.a.
