It's been said that fine, delicate wines need to mature slowly. For bands, sometimes that's true. In GB Leighton's case, it has taken almost two decades of songwriting and serious performing to develop into a force that is poised to take on the musical world.  That maturing is grounded in Brian Leighton's songwriting, his powerful vocal delivery, and the backing of a phenomenally talented band.

Some men celebrate their 63rd birthday by starting a countdown to retirement, but for bluegrass legend - and road warrior - Doyle Lawson, April 20th was a milepost on the way to one of his busiest and most successful seasons yet.

Fresh off taping an episode of GAC's Edge Of Country with Kylie Harris (air dates June 23rd & June 25th) that focuses on his newest release, More Behind the Picture than the Wall (Rounder), Lawson paused to break some big news before heading back on the road.

While dancing amongst the sold out crowd at the Boulder Theater it became clear to me…..why haven't I seen this band before?  This relatively unknown band performs like a veteran group, with a commanding visual presence and an amazing display of musicianship to back it up.

Today, Jam Cruise 6 confirms trip dates and makes its line-up announcement.  This year's annual floating festival will leave Ft. Lauderdale on January 4, 2008 for a 5 day / 5 night music and travel adventure.  With over 20 bands and 2000 passengers aboard the MSC Lirica, the luxury cruise liner will make stops in Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico.

The 2007 Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival will partner with Zephyr Energy, a program of the non-profit Bonneville Environmental Foundation, and New Belgium Brewing Company to offer a Sustainability Symposium, the goal of which is to bring environmental issues into mainstream discussion.  This year's Festival will take place June 7 – 10 at Clinton Lake State Park outside Lawrence.
