Good morning from day three of the 10k festival in Detroit Lakes Minnesota. Friday's line up matched or exceeded the expectations created by the first day of entertainment, and went down as a banner day in jamband music.

The 16th Annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance will be held from July 20-23 at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds in Trumansburg, NY.  This year's headliners include hit country singer John Anderson, politically conscious reggae hip-hoppers Michael Franti & Spearhead, African music legend Thomas Mapfumo & Blacks Unlimited, Rajasthani gypsy-Indian fusion band

In this section, I want to tell you which bands earned my top three ribbons of the festival.  Please keep in mind that I could not possibly see all of the bands that played, although I did try to see most.

The 4th Annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) will serve as the tour-ending destination for headliners Phil Lesh & Friends and Trey Anastasio, and a springboard for four nights of music, camping, and relaxation with over forty artists scheduled to perform July 19-22 at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.

We often get the question about FloydFest, from folks who haven't heard of the town of Floyd; "Will Pink Floyd be there? Is it a Pink Floyd cover band festival?" No, actually, FloydFest is named after our one-stoplight, two-block town, or rather the special essence of our town, which residents and visitors alike experience as a respite from the restless, hurried activity of our modern society, and the cookie-cutter look and feel of many, if not most, modern places.

This year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was a special one.. as I knew it would be. As post-Katrina levee breach life returns to a mere semblance of normalcy in the Crescent City, you wonder how these resilient people can still host such an amazing party in the face of so much utter destruction.
