This coming December, GMP Live will present the inaugural North Beach Music Festival (NBMF) at Miami Beach, FL's historic open-air art deco amphitheater, the North Beach Bandshell. Over December 10th and 11th, some of the modern music scene's greatest improvisational rock bands, jam bands and funk bands will descend upon the Bandshell, and the adjacent Bandshell Park, for performances over two stages.
Set in Miami Beach’s historic North Beach neighborhood, NBMF will provide fans with an intimate and boutique festival experience that features a combination of renowned nationally touring artists, unique collaborations and delicious local food at Miami Beach’s picturesque and historic North Beach Bandshell & Bandshell Park, located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean.
Bringing a music festival to South Florida has been a dream for GMP Live Founder/President Gideon Plotnicki ever since his relocation to Miami in 2019. "It has been a true pleasure to connect with the South Florida live music community over these past few years," he shares. "The fans here are passionate and vibrant, and they have a real love for funk and improvisational music, that's why I am so excited to continue Miami Beach's musical evolution with the North Beach Music Festival!"
Noah Plotnicki, Partner in North Beach Music Festival and Gideon’s twin brother, adds, “We have long dreamed of producing a festival together, so it is thrilling to have finally found the right combination to make it happen: a beautiful venue, supportive local partners, and a passionate live music scene.”
NBMF will share the lineup next week on Wednesday, August 11th at 10:00 am ET and tickets will go on sale on Friday, August 13th at 12:00 pm ET. Fans are encouraged to follow NBMF on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay-in-the-loop with all announcement details, including the festival's inaugural lineup and how to sign up for a limited run of presale tickets in advance of general on-sale.
More About North Beach Bandshell
The North Beach Bandshell is an open-air amphitheater in the heart of Miami Beach’s North Beach neighborhood. It has been managed by the Rhythm Foundation – a Miami Beach-based nonprofit cultural organization – for the City of Miami Beach since 2015. Built in 1961 by Norman Giller and Associates, the North Beach Bandshell is an anchor of the North Shore Historic District. The historic district received its 2009 designation on the National Register of Historic Places based on the characteristic style of MiMo (Miami Modernism or MidCentury Modernism), a post-war modern style of architecture.
Since its construction, the Bandshell has served as a community center and gathering place for North Beach residents. Big bands would play on Saturday nights, creating an impromptu ballroom under the stars. In the 1960s, famed variety TV show The Mike Douglas Show filmed on location here during the winter months. In the 1970s, benches were removed and the venue was used as a roller skating rink. For sixty years the North Beach Bandshell has brought people together in the spirit of community, culture and entertainment.
