For the members of IRATION, the ocean and environment hold special places in all of their hearts. When the Hawaiian-bred, Santa Barbara-based group is not performing, Micah Pueschel (lead vocals/guitar), Adam Taylor (bass), Joseph Dickens (drums), Cayson Peterson (keyboard/synth) and Micah Brown (guitar/vocals) can usually be found outside surfing, golfing and enjoying nature. So for the video for their latest single "Hotting Up" off their album of the same name, IRATION decided to shed some light on the issues affecting us all. The animated video--created by Lauren Crawford and written and directed by Michael H. Burnett with assistant director Alex Zurowski-was released Friday, June 3 and can be seen HERE. "We wanted to do something different and offer a different perspective on this song as well as try to help inform people about what we feel are issues that everyone shares no matter where you are from," explains Pueschel about the new video. "Our planet is something as humans we all share, so it is everyone's responsibility to understand what is happening to it. We hope you enjoy and share this video."
The release of the "Hotting Up" video kicked off a massive weekend in Southern California for the reggae-influenced alternative rock band. On Friday night (6/3), IRATION returned to KJEE's 12th Annual Summer Round-Up Concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl for the third time. The night was extra special as it marked the first time the band headlined the beautiful outdoor venue in their adopted hometown as well as the annual event, which also featured sets from Fitz and the Tantrums, Wolfmother, The Strumbellas and FMLYBND. On Sunday night (6/5), IRATION also returned to 91X's annual X-Fest, where they performed at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre alongside Cheap Trick, The Offspring, Kongos, Wolfmother and Chevy Metal among others.
In between the radio shows, IRATION made a surprise appearance at an official Bernie Sanders event on Saturday (6/4). The GOTV Concert drew thousands of supporters to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to hear music from Ozomatli, Mark Foster (Foster the People), Best Coast and Local Natives in addition to IRATION and featured special guests Shailene Woodley, Dick van Dyke, Susan Sarandon, Josh Fox, Josh Phillips and Max Carver.
"Regardless of your political affiliation or who you will be supporting this election, this was our opportunity to get involved in the Democratic process," the band shares. "Get out there and vote. It's your civic duty and Democratic right."
IRATION returns to Southern California next month to headline back-to-back nights at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, CA on July 9 and 10. This summer's shows-presented by KROQ-mark the band's fourth annual summer at the approximately 7,750 capacity venue and will feature support from Rebel Souljahz, Katastro and The Steppas on Saturday, July 9 and Collie Buddz, The Expanders and Seedless on Sunday, July 10. Tickets are on sale now via www.ticketmaster.com. IRATION has also announced a special acoustic show at the House of Blues San Diego for Thursday, July 7. Additionally, the festival favorites--who recently performed to an immense crowd at BottleRock Napa Valley--will head home to Hawaii at the end of July for the Mayjah Rayjah Festival in Honolulu and Maui and then later this summer will appear at Reggae Fest Chicago, Thunder Valley Vibes Festival (in Lincoln, CA), Reggae On the Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Life Is Beautiful Festival (in Las Vegas, NV). See below for full list of upcoming tour dates.
IRATION continues to tour in support of their latest full-length album HOTTING UP, released last year via Three Prong Records/Caroline. The nine-track album-produced and co-written by Grammy Award-nominated David Manzoor (Lupe Fiasco, R. Kelly, Lloyd), mixed by Grammy Award-nominated Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) and engineered by Will Brierre (Imagine Dragons, Youngblood Hawk, Chris Isaak)--features the radio singles "Reelin" (lyric video here), "Hotting Up" (lyric video here) and "867" (lyric video here). "Hotting Up" can currently be heard on 91X San Diego, KJEE Santa Barbara, KRXP Colorado Springs, WRMR Wilmington, DC, and WJSE Atlantic City.
