20 years ago Producer Henry K gathered reggae music’s top talent to celebrate the Grateful Dead, one of rock’s most beloved and prolific bands. The result was Fire on the Mountain “Reggae Celebrates the Grateful Dead volumes 1 and 2,” critical and commercial successes that spent more than 2 years on top of the Billboard Reggae Charts. On November 20th, 2015, Red Hillz Music will be releasing a 20th anniversary edition of this historic project. It will feature unreleased alternate versions, extended dub mixes, and rare B sides from the Henry K label and the vaults of the producer. Available for the first time on ITunes, Amazon and all digital formats, among the tracks are the “lost” session recordings from young Warren Haynes whose tasty fills add a fresh spin to Marcia Griffith’s powerful extended dub mix of “Shake- down Street.” Haynes’ emotional vocals on an unreleased alternate version of “Stop that Train” are accompanied by his slide guitar which deepens the urgency of his soulful wails. Also available for the first time is a dub version of “They Love Each Other,” on which legend Merl Saunders’ B-3 Hammond dances around Judy Mowatt’s mesmerizing voice.
