Los Angeles was treated to three sold out nights of Gary Clark Jr. Dec 3rd, 4th and 5th.
The Fonda Theater
This Austin, Texas guitarist and his three piece band is a thrill to experience. He played eight songs from his recent fall release The Story of Sonny Boy Slim and the rest of the set from his 2012 major label debut Blak and Blu. And a few additionally treats; Albert Collin’s ‘If Trouble was Money’ and the foot-stompin’ ‘Don’t Owe You a Thang’ from his Blight Lights EP. Gary Clark Jr. is a skilled blues guitar-slinger that commands his ax like an old master. It is exciting to imagine where he is going to take his music from here. It is no surprise that he began his early career at the same Austin club stage that the young Stevie Ray and Jimmi Vaughan graced years before.
