Chicago's WXRT Radio welcomed two sold out night of Houndmouth at Thalia Hall to ring in the new year.
Thalia Hall
Friday, December 30th, Rough Trade's Houndmouth launched into an energetic ninety minute set for the first of two sold out nights in Chicago. The band continues to gain greater traction since their 2015 hit "Sedona" from the "Little Neon Limelight" release.
At the core of the band, founding members Matt Myers (guitar, vocals), Zak Appleby (bass, vocals), and Shane Cody (drums, vocals) musically steer the ship. Keyboard player and vocalist Katie Toupin left the band to pursue her own musical direction earlier this year and has since been replaced by Caleb Hickman. The newest members Graeme Gardiner and Drew Miller add a whole new dimension to the band as dual saxophonists bring a soulfulness to this alt. country sound. With these changes to the original line-up, the band has grown into a confident, self-assured live act exhibiting great enthusiasm and fun leaving a marked impression for those who recall their earliest 2013 debut shows.
