On the heals of their second release Con Todo El Mundo in January, Khruangbin is touring the states extensively this spring and Grateful Web caught up with them the second of two sold out nights at Lincoln Hall.
Lincoln Hall Chicago
Wild enthusiams greeted the trio as they entered the stage and proceeded to play with a certain cool demur, and groove enduced sound that fans and critics have a hard time pinning down to any one existing genre. The first hint is in their name which translates to "Engine Fly" in Thia as their sound drews upon a 1960's Thai funk vibe. Blending in heavy bass backbeats with a psychedelic sound and cool surf rock one is reminded of an alternate Tarantino soundtracks world.
The mostly instrumental band hailing, Laura Lee - bass, Mark Speer - guitar, and "DJ" Donald Johnson - drums delivers both a chill vibe and a big sound for a trio.
