The Motet highlights The Big Weekend.
Chicago, Illinois
The Denver-based funk-jazz-Afropop influenced band The Motet played a late show for a nearly full house of fans at Concord Music Hall as a part of Silver Wrapper's Big Weekend. They engaged the audience and played very tight with high energy. Besides the lighting overpowering the musical dynamics, it was a great concert. Lead singer Lyle Divinshy really connects with fans while traversing the stage and holding down his end. But at a closer glance, it is clear that each member communicates non-verbally completely tuned in with each other as they jam working dynamics and spotlights solos.
This hard-working band has been at it for twenty years gaining fans playing at North Coast, Summer Camp, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forrest to name a few. And their efforts are paying off.
Line-up:
Lyle Divinsky: vocals, Ryan Jalbert: guitar, Garrett Sayers: bass, Dave Watts: drums, Joey Porter: keys, Drew Sayers: sax., and Parris Fleming: trumpet.
