For eighteen years and counting, Northwest String Summit has brought fans of contemporary bluegrass, indie, funk, jam rock, and everything in between to the greater Portland area for what has become a highlight of the summer for festivalgoers nationwide.

Z2 Entertainment venues–the Boulder Theater and Fox Theatre in Boulder and the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins–have each launched Recovery Funds to help weather the financial storm the global pandemic has brought upon independent music venues across the nation. Unable to hold concerts for the past four months, Z2 Entertainment has been unable to accrue any income.

As a preliminary to next January’s second annual Samantha Fish Cigar Box Guitar Festival – New Orleans, the producers are rolling out a worldwide open call for musicians -- amateur or professional; solo, duo or group -- to participate in a contest based on video performances utilizing handmade stringed instruments: cigar box guitars, canjoes, pocket fiddles, washtub basses, diddley bows, etc., with cash prizes totaling $1,000.

From Nashville, TN via Provo UT, Desert Noises returns with Everything Always, the follow-up to their 2014 acclaimed release 27 Ways. The band recorded this effort in their adopted hometown with producer Bill Reynolds (Band of Horses), who built upon the group's melodic rock sound.
