September 2022

Like a long, dark piece of music, the pandemic started small, then got big, and loud, and painfully dissonant. Hot Buttered Rum did their best to cope with its indignities, as most did, and much of that coping was done through the business of making lots and lots of noise. The songs that emerged from all this noise-making are a little louder than any the band has released to date in what became the latest album, Shine All Night.

Today, the five-time-Grammy-nominated guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd announces ‘Trouble Is…25,’ a top-to-bottom reinterpretation of his seminal album ‘Trouble Is…,’ which struck the match that reignited modern blues upon its release 25 years ago.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of “Valley Girl,” Frank Zappa’s sardonic, GRAMMY®-nominated Top 40 hit co-written with and featuring his then teenage daughter Moon Unit Zappa offering up the “totally bitchin’” local slang of the day over a gonzo riff set to an energetic beat. Released in 1982, the satirical track – which poked fun at the teen culture of Southern California’s San Fernando Valley – became the innovative artist’s biggest hit in the U.S.
