A broad mountain stream and towering red rock bluffs surround the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, Colorado. It’s a stunning and peaceful refuge, and to the delight of music fans nationwide, there’s also a stage! For over 30 years, festivalgoers (or “Festivarians'' as they’ve been dubbed by Planet Bluegrass), have been making the trek to Colorado’s front range for the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival; three days of music, camping, and inspiration from songwriters of all genres.

Acclaimed pianist Lee Pardini has joined forces with his fellow members of Los Angeles-based rockers Dawes for a brand new collaborative single out today. Composed by Pardini and featuring original lyrics by Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith, “What It Takes” is available now via GroundUP Music at all DSPs and streaming services.

The world-famous jazz pianist and bandleader Count Basie helped redefine music several times over and set the preconditions for jazz innovations, rock and roll, and popular American music, and today, a whole new host of colorful talents have mixed with Basie’s legendary sound and influence as part of a brand new album called Late Night Basie.

Just in time for Easter, Grammy-winner Tim O’Brien releases a new bluegrass original, “Little Lamb Little Lamb,” premiering today at The Bluegrass Situation. The song is a taste of what to expect on O’Brien’s upcoming full release, Cup of Sugar, which drops June 16th on Howdy Skies Records. Along with his longtime band, the album features bluegrass legend Del McCoury on a track.
