City Winery Boston is welcoming rock and roll legend Jorma Kaukonen live in concert on Friday, June 23rd at 8:00 PM. In a career that has already spanned a half-century, Kaukonen has been one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues, and rock.

Roots duo Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves have just released an EP of hot outtakes from their critically acclaimed 2022 album, Hurricane Clarice, on Free Dirt Records. With summer just a few short weeks away once again comes the peak of festival season, and Chicago is diving in head first with Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, and of course Heatwave. The two-day EDM festival’s second year, this time hosted at Northerly Island’s Huntington Bank Pavilion, will feature both new artists and familiar faces on Saturday, June 10th, and Sunday, June 11th. "The songs started with 'Bear.' It was December of 2021, and the news was all about Russia and would Putin invade Ukraine. I had just read a book on the history of dancing bears. White Nationalism was a prominent topic, the flip side being Black Lives Matter. Trump had lost the election but was ramping up his spoiled brat act. I could imagine the gripes Putin, Trump and the White Nationalists had, even if I didn’t agree. I’d also reread some of a favorite book by Rafi Zabor: The Bear Goes Home.
