The Amy Ray Band is hitting the road for a few summer shows in the southeastern US during Amy's short break from Indigo Girls’ touring. The dates coincide with the upcoming release of Amy's next single, “Chuck Will’s Widow,” her 3rd in a series of solo singles released this past year.
The song, inspired by the mournful calls of the nightbird, resonated with Amy, a confessed night owl. "Chuck Will's Widow" will be available on all digital service providers on July 23, 2021 and features guests Michelle Malone and The War and Treaty.
“I just wanted to get out and play some of our new songs, continue our thread, and have fun," Amy says of the dates. "Hopefully this will inspire some more songwriting. We really want get back into the studio in December 2021 and record together, ya know, live in person. This band thrives on being together in both a live and a studio setting. I want to get enough songs recorded to release a vinyl LP."
Amy called on a couple of artists she loves to join her on these dates, with S.G. Goodman and Daphne Willis announced as support for the Durham and Asheville, NC shows.
“Most exciting to me is who is gonna be playing support for these shows!" she says. "S.G. Goodman is going to be our special guest at Motorco in Durham, NC. I have been listening to her recent record for a while and I am so psyched to get to see her play! AND I just got turned onto the music of Daphne Willis and she will be opening our show in Asheville, NC at Salvage Station! We start our little run of shows with a super fun free festival in Brookhaven (Atlanta) on July 30th —- fingers crossed I will get to see Rick Springfield play ‘Jesse’s Girl.'"
